I am a CNA I have worked in nursing homes, I know with COVID it is crazy however there is no reason for their treatment of personal belongings of residents and how their families are dealt with. My Aunt was here for a short time and was sent to the hospital and from there to a facility in Phoenix. We have called MANY times for her things that we took her while in Granite Creek. Among those items are a bible and pictures of her kids and money. NONE OF WHICH CAN BE ACCOUNTED FOR. They can not tell us where these items went. The social services person, Tristen has not called us back on anything we have called for even when she was in the facility.

But when they called my cell phone, they asked for my sister to find out when she was going to pay her bill. The person who called told me she had no record that I was the court appointed permanent guardian and conservator, even though I'd sent that certified documentation to them a number of times. You could say that it's just a tremendously disorganized business office, but this leads me to question the level of organization -- and care -- at all levels of this facility and I am very glad to have finally gotten my sister out of Granite Creek. The facility was experiencing a staffing shortage — because so many workers were out ill, the worker said. She was told to work the COVID hall, she said, which at that time had 18 patients, including eight who were confirmed positive. Another nurse who worked with her was also told she had to work, she said.

This facility did not keep up her diabetic diet, allowed her to not eat if she didn’t want to , did not give her her iron or diabetes medication, and gave her narcotics for pain without informing her medical power of attorney. Her daughter — her medical power of attorney — called and told them what needed to be done to properly care for her and they did not listen. She’s been there about a month and now that she’s home, she’s confused, disoriented, her anxiety is through the roof, and she is having trouble keeping down food now that she’s back to eating regularly and on a proper diet.
